Russell, Founder and Director

Russell founded SMXi over 30 years ago with a clear focus on building software that fits the way organisations work. With deep expertise in bespoke software development and Delphi, Russell has led the design and delivery of systems that have helped charities and organisations raise millions in donations, manage memberships, and reclaim Gift Aid. Russell is also actively involved in education, sponsoring the SMXi First Year Technology Challenge Award at Middlesex University since 2015, supporting computer science students in building robotic applications and developing their technical skills. Today, Russell continues to guide the direction of our products and works closely with the team to evolve and refine our platforms.
Robin, Director
Data driven communication and customer journey
Robin joined SMXi in 2019 as a Director, bringing extensive experience in data driven communication and customer journey management. At SMXi, Robin helps shape the direction of our software and services, ensuring they enable organisations to communicate clearly, efficiently, and at scale. Robin’s focus is on helping clients reach the right people at the right time, supporting sustainable growth and stronger relationships through well designed, data led systems.
Philip, Product Support and Front End Development
Client support and development
Philip joined SMXi in 2011, originally hired as the UK Index editor, supporting SMXi’s early search technology work. Having previously worked in client support and data focused roles, Philip’s work now sits across product support and front end development, helping ensure our platforms run smoothly in real world use. Philip works closely with clients and the development team to investigate issues, improve workflows, and shape practical enhancements across our CRM, GiftAider, and digital card systems, focusing on making complex software easier to use and support.
Keith, Senior Developer and GiftAider Lead
Software engineer
With over 25 years of experience in software design and testing, Keith joined SMXi as a Software Engineer with a strong background in Delphi and SQL, working across embedded and PC based systems. Keith has led major projects in engineering, production, and financial environments, including extensive work at Specsavers. At SMXi, Keith is the lead developer on our charity tax reclaim application, GiftAider, delivering reliable, well engineered solutions through strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Andy, Senior Developer

Andy joined SMXi in 2023 as a Senior Developer, working across complex custom CRM solutions and our digital card platforms. Andy’s work focuses on methodical, well structured development, supporting long running, business critical systems that require ongoing maintenance, enhancement, and reliability. At SMXi, Andy helps deliver stable, scalable software that supports high volume, real world operations.
Jez, Senior Developer

Jez joined SMXi in 2022 as a Senior Developer specialising in large scale systems that process high data volumes and require continuous development. Jez’s role involves working deep within established platforms, handling intricate logic, integrations, and performance critical components. With over 12 years of experience in project management and administration within the IT and telecoms sector, alongside more than a decade in customer relations and key account management, Jené joined SMXi in 2025. Since joining, Jené has been actively supporting process implementation, project administration, and client relationships, contributing wherever needed while continuing to build knowledge across our software platforms.
Owen, Senior Software Developer

Owen joined SMXi in 2025 as a Senior Software Developer, having previously worked as a Delphi developer in the transport sector. Since joining, Owen has been working on data migration for new customers, ensuring data is transferred accurately from existing systems and is ready for use from day one.
