SMXi built a web-based customer journey and secure API layer for My Gadget Umbrella, supporting gadget selection, customer data capture, premium lookup, basket confirmation and policy setup.

The project needed to support both direct customer use and partner-led API integration. That meant the public site, API and management tools all had to work from the same product, premium and customer workflow assumptions.

Description

My Gadget Umbrella needed more than a brochure site. The project required a working customer journey for selecting gadget types, capturing customer information and moving towards a policy setup workflow, backed by an API that could also support partner integrations.

SMXi developed the web application and supporting API so the same core process could be used consistently: create or find a customer, open a basket, retrieve valid manufacturers and models, add gadgets, confirm the basket and handle payment steps where required.

The API layer was designed for authenticated partner access, with support for client credentials, premium retrieval and policy setup operations. This gave the platform a route for direct customer use and for external systems that need to integrate with the service.

The supporting management application provides operational control around products, manufacturers, premium schemes, discounts, API accounts and logs. This gives staff a practical way to maintain the product data and configuration that sits behind the customer journey.

The result is a joined-up web and API platform: a branded front-end journey for customers, a secure integration route for partners, and management tooling for the operational data that keeps the service maintainable.
